Jake Roberts Says He’d Return To WWE If Asked: “Wrestling Needs Some Help Right Now”
WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts says he’d be open to returning to WWE television to help however he can.
In an interview with DC 101 FM to promote his new film The Bet, Roberts was asked if he would return to WWE if he got the call.
“I have so many things I want to do, so many things,” Roberts answered. “When I’m sober and clean and my mind’s working, I’m happy and energetic and I know I can fix this and do that. What do you choose? I don’t know. But, if the WWE did call me, yeah, I’d be right back in there man because I love wrestling and the Lord knows wrestling needs some help right now.”
Roberts also talked about his previous film, the documentary about his comeback The Resurrection Of Jake The Snake Roberts. Roberts says he struggled with doing the movie in the beginning, and referenced being “burned” by the producers of Beyond The Mat. He says doing it with DDP and being given control of the movie put him at ease.
“If I didn’t want it to come out, it wouldn’t come out,” Roberts said of his creative control. “Trust was a big part of it and once I saw the final product, I thought, ‘you know what, this is going to help so many people.'”
Roberts also talked about missing the late Dusty Rhodes and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, saying they are both irreplaceable. He says there will never be anybody else like Piper or Rhodes again, and that it blows his mind that he’s still alive and they aren’t.
